We will take your book from raw manuscript to finished product, be it an ebook or hard copy in your hand; in other words the complete A to Z of the publishing journey. The processes involved—some as outlined below—include manuscript assessment, copyediting, design and layout (cover and book), typesetting, proofreading, indexing, PDFs, website design and print management (ebook and hard copy). We will project-manage your book, based on your specific requirements, and will quote as such (rather than offering ‘packaged deals’). Although most of the work is done in-house, we do work with top design studios in aspects of the production process.

Chris has edited uncounted manuscripts over the years, in many diverse genres: memoir, history, fiction, children’s, travel & guide, cookery and sport, to name some. The edit itself varies in complexity from a straightforward copyedit with superficial fact-checking, to a more complex structural edit with in-depth fact-checking. Editing can be done in either English English or American English. Fees start at £7.50 per 1,000 words.

Proofreading is as equally important as the copyedit, if not more so. This is where those irritating little typos can escape and it takes a special eye to spot them. As such, we have several vastly experienced proofreaders on hand. Depending on the technical complexity of the book, rates start at around £4.00 per 1,000 words.
We offer indexing services up to Level 3, occasionally Level 4. Depending on complexity, rates start at around £2.00 per indexable page.
Unfortunately, people do judge a book by it’s cover, with so much choice and with the introduction of self publishing your book cover needs to stand out from the rest. There is much more to consider, does the book cover appeal to your audience? Does it look commercial when put against other books of it’s genre? Will the design stand up in a few years time?

We can answer all of those, when designing covers we keep in mind not only the genre, and the authors wishes and ideas but also whether or not it’ll sell. We consider whether or not a distributor when given a copy of the front cover and a 200 word blurb will decide it’s something they’ll stock.
We work with professionals in map design and origination of colour profiles, experts in their fields who offer quality design and artwork at inexpensive rates.
Typesetting, which includes the design and layout of your book, can be a minefield that undoes all the good work done with the preparation of the manuscript. It takes an expert to choose the right size and format of your book (the ‘look and feel’), the font that best suits your subject matter, and the right font size and leading to suit the extent (pages) of the book. It is also important that pictures and images and properly prepared, a process known as ‘colour correcting’. Our typesetter will bring all these elements together to produce a book that you will be proud of.
We can manage the printing of your book, be it on a single-copy print-on-demand basis, or a full-blown litho print-run that extends to multiple copies. With our experience, we are able to find the best printer that suits your book and your pocket. We also work with ebook converters and can get your book onto several platforms such as Amazon and iTunes.
